Karl Wiegers is Principal Consultant with Process Impact in Portland, Oregon. He has provided training and consulting services worldwide on many aspects of software development, management, and process improvement. Prior to starting Process Impact in 1997, Karl spent 18 years at Kodak as a research scientist, software developer, software manager, and software process and quality improvement leader. Karl is the author of several books on software development and management: Software Requirements Essentials (with Candase Hokanson)Software Development Pearls Software Requirements (with Joy Beatty) Successful Business Analysis Consulting Practical Project Initiation More About Software Requirements Peer Reviews in Software Creating a Software Engineering Culture And some other books also: The Thoughtless Design of Everyday Things The Reconstruction (a forensic mystery novel) Pearls from Sand (a memoir of life lessons) Karl has also written nearly 300 articles on many aspects of software development, project management, design, consulting, self-help, chemistry, and military history. He has delivered more than 660 presentations: training classes, conference talks, keynotes, webinars, and professional society talks. Karl has served on the Editorial Board of IEEE Software and as a Contributing Editor for Software Development magazine. Karl received a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Illinois.
